Learning Mentor (Temporary Contract)

Location: Multiple locations, including on-site at our Education Hub and outreach in local schools

Contract Type: Temporary (Part-time, until end of July with potential for additional hours)

Pay: £12.52 ph approx 12 hours plus pw

 

About Us: At Safer Recruitment Company, we are dedicated to providing supportive and transformative education experiences for young people facing challenges in their educational journey. We are currently looking for a dynamic and compassionate Learning Mentor to join our team on a temporary basis. This role will be instrumental in guiding and supporting our students both at our dedicated Education Hub and through outreach initiatives in local schools.

The Role: As a Learning Mentor, you will play a crucial role in the personal and academic development of young people who require additional support. You will help them overcome barriers to learning, engage in educational activities, and achieve their full potential. The ideal candidate will be energetic, empathetic, and passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one mentoring and group support to students KS2, Ks3 & Ks4, who are facing educational challenges.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies that cater to individual learning needs and promote educational engagement.
  • Act as a positive role model and advocate for students, helping them develop confidence, skills, and resilience.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure a cohesive support network.
  • Participate in both hub-based and outreach mentoring sessions in various local schools.
  • Monitor and record student progress, adapting strategies as needed to maximise effectiveness.

Requirements:

  • Experience in mentoring, teaching, or working with young people, particularly those with additional needs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with students and inspire trust and confidence.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and a commitment to student welfare.
  • Energetic and enthusiastic, ideally with an interest in sports, as physical activities may be part of the engagement strategy.
  • Enhanced DBS check required prior to commencement.

Preferred:

  • Qualifications in education, child psychology, Art therapy , or related fields.
  • Previous experience in an educational setting or working with young people in a similar role.
