Frequently Asked Questions

What is off-site direction, and how is it different from a managed move?

Off-site direction is a temporary placement arranged by the school to improve future behaviour and support reintegration. It isn’t a punishment for past behaviour and it doesn’t change the pupil’s main school roll. A managed move is a permanent transfer to another school and must be agreed by all parties.

What can KRS provide during an off-site direction placement?

We provide a structured, supportive programme built around the pupil’s needs (SEMH/SEND, behaviour, attendance and learning). This can include small-group learning (typically 1:6), core curriculum support (e.g., English and Maths), wellbeing and regulation work, and clear monitoring against agreed objectives. We’ll work with the school to set outcomes, a timeline, and review points so everyone can see what’s improving and what needs to change before reintegration.

Can we choose which sport our child does?

We’ll always take preferences and needs into account, but the sport offer changes each half term. That keeps the programme fresh, gives pupils a wider range of experiences, and helps us match activities to the group’s needs and the time of year.

Do the sports stay the same all year?

No — the sports change each half term. We publish what’s coming up so schools/parents know what to expect, and we adapt sessions to different ages, confidence levels and additional needs.

What CPD/training can KRS deliver for our staff team?
We deliver practical training that helps staff improve behaviour, attendance and engagement—without lowering expectations. Our CPD can cover:
  • Behaviour support (consistent routines, de-escalation, restorative approaches, and clear boundaries)
  • Improving attendance (reducing barriers, re-engagement strategies, and working with families)
  • Neurodiversity-friendly sports interventions (using structured sport to support regulation, confidence and positive behaviour)
  • Understanding cuckooing (spotting risks, safeguarding responses, and what to do next)
Optional add-on sentence (if you want to include the online offer):
We also offer online training packages that schools can purchase to upskill all staff, with flexible access so teams can complete modules around the school day.
Can you tailor training to our pupils and current challenges (rather than generic CPD)?

Yes. Our CPD is built from real experience and methods we’ve developed and tested in practice—not off-the-shelf theory. We can tailor sessions to your setting and priorities, and we can also discuss individual cases to make the training genuinely useful. Where case examples are used, we’ll anonymise details and link the learning to practical next steps staff can apply immediately.
